Meta is accelerating its push into paid services, unveiling a range of new subscription plans for consumers, creators, businesses, and artificial intelligence users. The move marks one of the company’s biggest efforts yet to reduce its reliance on advertising revenue while creating new income streams across its ecosystem.
The social media giant announced the global rollout of Instagram Plus, Facebook Plus, and WhatsApp Plus, while also revealing upcoming tests for premium AI and professional subscription packages under a new umbrella brand called “Meta One.”
Instagram Plus Arrives at $3.99 Per Month
Instagram users can now subscribe to Instagram Plus for $3.99 monthly, unlocking a collection of advanced tools designed to enhance content sharing, audience engagement, and profile customization.
Among the new features are Stories that remain visible for up to 48 hours instead of the standard 24-hour limit. Subscribers can also create multiple audience groups for Story sharing, helping users target specific followers with tailored content.
The service introduces new audience analytics, including Story rewatch counts and viewer search tools that make it easier to identify who has engaged with content.
Additional perks include custom profile fonts, personalized app icons, animated Super Heart reactions, expanded profile pins, and the ability to publish content directly to profiles without automatically displaying it in followers’ feeds.
Meta says more features will be added to the subscription in future updates.
Facebook Plus and WhatsApp Plus Offer Platform-Specific Benefits
Facebook Plus launches at the same $3.99 monthly price point, offering a feature set similar to Instagram Plus with an emphasis on personalization and social engagement.
WhatsApp Plus, priced at $2.99 per month, focuses on messaging enhancements. Subscribers gain access to custom themes, premium sticker packs, personalized notification sounds, additional pinned chats, and expanded chat organization tools.
Meta emphasized that these new offerings are optional upgrades and will not affect the experience of users who choose to remain on the free versions of its apps.
Meta Verified Remains Separate
The company clarified that the new Plus subscriptions will not replace Meta Verified, its existing premium service that provides account verification, impersonation protection, and customer support benefits.
For now, both subscription programs will operate independently, giving users different options depending on their needs.
Meta Introduces Paid AI Subscriptions
In addition to social app subscriptions, Meta is preparing to monetize its artificial intelligence products for the first time.
The company announced two upcoming AI-focused plans: Meta One Plus at $7.99 per month and Meta One Premium at $19.99 per month.
Both subscriptions will provide expanded access to Meta AI, but the Premium tier includes additional computing power for more demanding requests, deeper reasoning capabilities, and enhanced image and video generation features.
Meta AI will continue to offer a free version for casual users, while the premium plans target those seeking more advanced AI functionality.
Testing for the AI subscriptions is scheduled to begin next month in Singapore, Guatemala, and Bolivia.
New Professional Plans Target Creators and Businesses
Meta is also preparing premium subscriptions tailored to creators and businesses.
The Meta One Essential plan, priced at $14.99 monthly, includes verification benefits, brand protection tools, and an enhanced links page that allows users to promote websites and social profiles more effectively.
For larger creators and businesses, Meta One Advanced will cost $49.99 per month and adds powerful growth-focused tools. Subscribers can receive greater visibility in Facebook feeds, improved placement in Facebook and Instagram search results, and promotional features designed to increase follower growth.
The premium package also includes advanced audience analytics, content scheduling tools, moderator access management, and copyright monitoring features that alert creators when their content is reused.
AI Becomes a Bigger Focus for Meta
The subscription expansion comes as Meta continues investing heavily in artificial intelligence.
The company recently launched new AI initiatives, including business-focused AI agents capable of handling customer inquiries, recommending products, and automating tasks across WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger.
Meta executives say the long-term goal is to bring these subscription products together under the Meta One brand, creating a unified platform for premium social, business, creator, and AI services.
As competition intensifies with AI leaders such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google, Meta is betting that users will be willing to pay for enhanced AI capabilities and advanced social networking tools.
The rollout signals a major shift in Meta’s strategy, moving beyond advertising and toward a subscription-driven future powered by artificial intelligence and premium digital experiences.
